Appledore Solution Profile – Nuage Networks SD-WAN 2.0

Executive Summary

This document profiles Nuage Networks’ SD-WAN 2.0 offering in the context of Appledore Research’s ongoing research stream and best practices. Nuage Networks is a business unit of Nokia, and sells its technology both directly to Enterprises and “to” or “through” CSPs. Unlike many of its competitors, Nuage Networks adapts its common technology to three markets: datacenter SDN, NFV-I, and SD-WAN, and claims some advantages based on its E2E perspective. Furthermore, they bring forward a decade+ of expertise as a leading router vendor, and apply this experience and technology to their solution, with some relatively unusual resulting capabilities, including advanced routing support and the ability to support disjoint underlay WANs. Nuage Networks has more recently concentrated more on the SD-WAN segment, and is gaining traction, especially among CSPs. Nuage Networks differentiate based on robustness, scalability, and the sophistication of their controller and its proven integration to CSP orchestration, assurance and therefore E2E chaining.
