Sunil leads the vision and direction at Nuage Networks. Sunil brings over fifteen years of experience in the communications and networking industry, including his former role as VP of business development for Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), as well as VP of global product management for Alcatel Lucent’s IP Division.
Sunil gained expertise in the networking startup space in his time at TiMetra Networks, where he led product management and standardization. And before that, he held a variety of product management and consulting engineering management roles with Bay and Nortel Networks in New York and Santa Clara.
Sunil has co-authored and contributed to multiple IETF drafts. He is also a regular speaker at industry events and conferences. He has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in CIS.
Dimitri is leading the technology and architecture of the Nuage Networks Virtualized Services Platform. Before starting Nuage Networks, Dimitri was the CTO of Alcatel-Lucent Ventures and he led the Alcatel-Lucent strategy in cloud computing and NFV. He was also the CTO of the OmniAccess Nonstop Laptop Guardian, a security and compliance solution for IT organizations.
Dimitri brings a multi-disciplinary background in distributed systems, security, and networking. He has held several leading roles in Bell Labs Research, where he led a series of research programs with fundamental contributions in packet classification, traffic management, router architectures, and asset management, and was instrumental in the commercialization of these technologies.
Dimitri received a PhD and an MsC in computer engineering from the University of California, Santa Cruz, in 1996 and 1994 respectively. He is the author for more than 50 papers in international conferences and journals, holds more than 20 patents, and was the co-recipient of the 1998 IEEE Fred W. Ellersick Prize Paper Award.
With 20 years of experience in network protocols, Florin Balus brings significant expertise to his role at Nuage Networks – running the specification and implementation of our cloud networking solution. Prior to joining the Nuage Networks team, Florin spent 6 years as a product manager in Alcatel-Lucent’s IP division where he contributed to the success of the 7750 Service Router (SR) product line. Before that, he worked as a product manager and consulting engineer for Nortel Networks and in network engineering for France Telecom. Florin holds a number of patents and is also active in IETF where he has authored several IETF RFCs, drafts on VPNs/BGP, Datacenter Network Virtualization and Software Defined Networking (SDN). He holds a Bachelor of Engineering and a Master in Artificial Intelligence from the University Politechnica of Bucharest, Romania.
Having joined Nuage Networks in 2011, Suresh brings more than fifteen years of experience in networking software development, team building, leading cross-functional teams, and delivering high-quality software. Today, he leads the software effort for the Nuage Networks Virtualized Services Controller.
Suresh’s experience includes extensive protocol development, having developed IP routing and multicast protocols from scratch and deploying them in large ISPs. Suresh was part of the original TiMetra team before becoming part of Alcatel Lucent as Principal Engineering. He then took a role as Director of Engineering at Juniper where he worked on their QFabric product. Earlier in his career, Suresh worked in software engineering at Shasta Networks (Nortel acquired) as well as Fore Systems (Marconi, Ericsson acquired).
He earned a master’s in computer engineering from Syracuse University.
Charles is responsible for Nuage Networks’ business development activities worldwide. With over 18 years of international experience, he more recently focused on Software Defined Networking and has been one of the early promoters of this technology. He participates in many world-class SDN events, actively engaging customers and developing concrete uses cases helping them solve modern datacenter networking issues. Prior to joining Nuage, Charles was the SDN Executive at IBM, responsible for global sales and business development. He also led the IBM System Networking business unit in Europe for several years. Charles’s involvement in datacenter networking began with the creation of BLADE Network Technologies (BNT, later acquired by IBM) where he was Vice President and General Manager for EMEA.
Charles’s ability to articulate the value proposition into simple and concrete scenarios makes his presentations style very lively and easy to follow. He studied in Mathematics and Computer Sciences at the University of Quebec and holds an MBA from the University of Wales.
The former CTO of Alcatel-Lucent’s Verizon customer team and leader of their IP Division wireline consulting engineering organization, Mike Loomis brings over 18 years of data networking experience to Nuage Networks. His career spans from customer service to product management at networking pioneers Wellfleet Communications, Bay Networks, and Nortel. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and an MBA from the University of New Hampshire.
Houman Modarres leads the marketing efforts of Nuage Networks, Alcatel-Lucent’s venture committed to removing the networking constraints and boundaries that hinder cloud services.
Houman joined Alcatel-Lucent’s rapidly growing IP Division in 2008 as Senior Director of Strategic Marketing, prior to which he led the marketing and product management functions within Hammerhead Systems, a Silicon Valley start-up. In other past lives on the leading edge of shifts in networking technology, Houman oversaw the Carrier VoIP/Softswitch business line at 3Com Corporation, served in Product Management roles at Newbridge Networks, and held broadband & wireless systems engineering and network planning positions at Nortel. Houman holds an MBA from the University of California Berkeley and a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University.
