Gartner Research names Nuage Networks a ‘Cool Vendor’ in enterprise Communications Strategies
Nuage Networks tackles long standing network problems by delivering new and innovative solutions.
Mountain View, CA, May 7, 2014 – Nuage Networks, the Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) venture focused on software-defined networking (SDN) solutions, has been named a Cool Vendor in Gartner, Inc.’s April 23, 2014 “Cool Vendors in Enterprise Communications Strategies, 2014” report. The report highlights vendors that offer impactful software-defined networking (SDN) technologies and solutions to help enterprises achieve a new level of business value.
Cool Vendors discussed in this research contribute to the technology tipping point that is occurring in data center networking and help enterprises address challenges in new and innovative ways. Nuage Networks looks at data center networking in a fresh manner by providing an SDN overlay solution that nicely stitches the overlay and underlay, and cleanly extends across data centers.
“At Nuage we have approached the removal of network barriers that stand in the way of cloud services by taking a very modern and innovative approach to networking. In just a year, we believe we can see our strategy has resonated in the industry through successful customer deployments and third-party validation, and it is an honor to be recognized for our work” said Sunil Khandekar, GM, Nuage Networks. “The versatility of our solution drives our ability to address various customers’ cloud needs to ensure IT and IP networks work in concert, allowing instantaneous secure connectivity to users when and wherever they need it.”

Nuage Networks’ SDN portfolio targets seamless cloud networking services across large multi-tenant, multi-datacenter, hybrid and WAN environments in a simple and secure way, making networks as fluid and responsive as compute and storage have become. Through an advanced policy framework, The Nuage Networks Virtualized Services Platform (VSP) allows the abstraction of network capabilities in application-centric, IT-friendly terms, and the automation of network connectivity in strict accordance with a role-based hierarchy of permissions. In this way, enterprise CIOs and network administrators maintain full control and visibility of their infrastructure, while empowering their diverse workgroups to turn up application and networking resources without unnecessary delay and operational complexity. The Nuage Networks VSP virtualizes and automates any datacenter network infrastructure, with common policy applied across virtualized and bare-metal assets, agnostic to choice of hypervisor, cloud management system, and networking hardware.
Nuage Networks has completed 30 customer trials of its portfolio and announced commercial contracts with global healthcare provider, UPMC; French cloud service provider, Numergy; and Canadian service provider, TELUS among others.
